SEND Explorer uses a default set of colors in visualizations to depict grouping and color by settings. These default colors are used for all visualizations across all users and cannot be customized or changed per visualization or user.
Administrators can update the default colors used across visualizations in SEND Explorer by updating the Colors setting under Configuration from the Administration menu. Individual colors are represented in #RRGGBB format, separated by spaces in the Colors textbox, and are used in visualizations in the order in which they appear in the textbox.
Follow the steps below to update the default colors used for visualizations in SEND Explorer.
Login to SEND Explorer as an administrator.
1 | Click on the Admin hyperlink next to your name in the upper right-hand corner of the main screen. |
2 | Click on the Configuration button on the Administrator Dashboard. |
3 | Scroll down to locate the Colors textbox. We recommend copying/pasting out the current values in the Colors textbox into a separate file so you can easily return to default if needed. |
4 | Enter in the #RRGGBB format value for each color you want to display in the order you want the colors used, (e.g. blue for level 1, green for level 2, orange for level 3, red for level 4, etc.) each separated by a space, into the Colors textbox. A website that visually displays colors in #RRGGBB format is useful for constructing the list of colors you want to use in ##RRGGBB format. |
5 | Click on the Save button at the top of the Administrator Dashboard. The changes made will take effect immediately for all visualizations/users. |
The SEND Explorer team has constructed a list of colors that work well for distinguishing similar colors if graphs or visualizations must be printed in black and white. The list of grayscale colors that should be replaced in the Colors textbox are included below. Remember to copy/paste out the current values in the Colors textbox into a separate file so you can easily return to default after the grayscale graphs have been completed.
#36454F #a9a9a9 #808080 #d3d3d3 #c0c0c0 #7b7d7b #bfbfbf #b4b4b4 #eeeeee #dddddd #cccccc #bbbbbb #a3a3a3 #444444 #555555 #777777 #999999 #aaaaaa
Once the graphs/visualizations have been completed/exported, the default color scheme can be replaced by replacing the values in the Color textbox with the original values.
